[UN VOICE] English Speech Contest to Select UN Youth Delegates — Applications Now Open

The Yongsan Global Education Support Center invites young people to participate in UN VOICE, an English speech contest.

Participants will choose a country delegation, international organization, or NGO, explore global issues from its perspective, and propose solutions in English.

The Grand Prize winner will have the opportunity to participate in activities at UN Headquarters in New York as a youth delegate, with the full participation fee—valued at approximately KRW 10 million—covered.

■ Contest Theme

Building a Safer Digital World for Youth in the Age of AI

※ Your speech should incorporate the UN’s core values alongside perspectives drawn from the following UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being), Goal 4 (Quality Education), Goal 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), Goal 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions), and Goal 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).

■ Speech Language and Time Limit

Written speech scripts must be submitted in both Korean and English.

Speeches at the final competition must be delivered in English.

Each speech is limited to 2 minutes. Exceeding the time limit will result in a point deduction.

■ Eligibility

25 young people who live in Yongsan-gu or attend a high school in Yongsan-gu

■ Roles

Choose one country delegation, international organization, or NGO to represent:

- Country delegations: United States, United Kingdom, Australia, Finland, Estonia

- International organizations: UN Youth Office, UNESCO, ITU (International Telecommunication Union), WHO (World Health Organization)

- NGOs: BTF (Blue Tree Foundation), Thorn, 5Rights Foundation

■ Application Deadline

October 19, 2026 (Mon), at 23:59PM KST

■ Contest Schedule

- Document screening results: October 28 (Wed) 

- Pre-contest training: October 31 (Sat), 10:00–11:30 AM

- Final competition: November 7 (Sat), 9:00 AM–1:00 PM

※ Winners will be selected and the awards ceremony will take place on the day of the final competition.

■ Awards and Participation Benefits

- Grand Prize (1 winner): Participation in the youth delegation program at UN Headquarters in New York, with the full participation fee covered (approximately KRW 10 million), and an award certificate

- Excellence Award and Merit Award (1 winner each): Participation in the youth delegation program at UN Headquarters in New York at the winner’s own expense, and an award certificate

- All finalists: A certificate of participation and exemption from the document screening stage when applying for the BTF UN Youth Delegation

※ The Grand Prize winner must attend all components of the BTF UN Youth Delegation program, including preparatory learning, activities in New York, and the completion ceremony. Failure to attend or participate diligently may result in removal from the delegation or transfer of the funding eligibility to the next-ranked award recipient (Excellence Award or Merit Award winner).

Apply through the Yongsan Global Education Support Center website and submit the required documents, including the application form and speech scripts in Korean and English.
